A very fine and rare Italian carved giltwood mirror, Venetian, second quarter 18th century the pierced cresting centre by a bracket with a tasselled lambrequin enclosing a suit of armour and trophies flanked by two further brackets with pelmets and trophies with 'C'-scroll and foliage and flower heads, above a later rectangular plate within a moulded frame carved with cartouches and trails of flowers and leaves on a stippled ground, each side carved with a seated figure, one of a Chinaman, the other of a bearded male figure, both in drapery, on a bracket and supporting military trophies on his head terminating in scrolls and further trophies 209cm. high, 156cm. wide; 6ft. 10%in, 5ft. 1Xin.
